Etching to mark history

Honouring tradition was a key component of choosing the suitable medium for this commission. After being invited into the forge, being amongst the tools and hearing parts of the history, it was easy to decide on creating an etching, a printmaking process using a metal plate to produce prints. Labour of the artist and blacksmith merge together through this etching, honouring the physicality of the traditional processes and metallic materials.

17th of May 2026 marked the celebration of the monumental work done to preserve a heritage building, its story, the culture and thanking the people behind the project. This commission was an honour and I’d like to thank the community of Killyon again, especially the Spain family.
