Kwaidan: The Art of Interpretation.

The first official publication of the Publication Station, LSAD.

Exhibited as part of the Encounters of Patrick Lafcadio Hearn Exhibition in the Hunt Museum, Limerick and Farmleigh House, Dublin, this was a limited edition book with a collection of risograph prints, visual interpretations of Lafcadio Hearns Ghost Stories. A copy was presented to the Japanese Ambassador, Norio Maruyam, at the official exhibition opening.

For this illustration titled Dangerously Dreamy, I indulged imagination as I imagined myself as Lafcadio’s Rokokurbi. When these beasts fall into a deep slumber, their necks grow long as they search for something to feast. As a person who’s fallen asleep on the couch many times to count, it felt like a fun opportunity to create this creepy self portrait while appreciating Lafcadio’s stories and imagination.

Risograph printed, Japanese hand binded Edition. (24/40)
